Euclid

Euclid is an ESA mission that will observe the sky in the visible and near infrared, providing data on the shape and distribution of galaxies and galaxy clusters up to redshift z ~ 2. The main scientific objectives of Euclid, whose launch is expected in 2022, are the understanding of the mechanism at the basis of the current accelerated expansion of the universe, of nature and of the properties of dark energy and dark matter, and of gravity. At INFN Ferrara we are studying how to extract the information contained in the correlation between Euclid's observations and those of the cosmic microwave background anisotropies, and the synergy between Euclid and spectroscopic surveys done for galaxy cluster science.
