The top shield, likewise the four lateral ones, contributes to
the rejection of events induced by charged particles.
It consists of a 1 mm thick plastic scintillator (BC-434)
viewed by four PMTs (Hamamatsu R-1840) with independent
power supplies (fig. ![[*]](crossref.png)
).
