To reach Ferrara from Bologna airport (BLQ), two options are available:

1) Direct connection Bologna Airport – Ferrara city centre: outside the arrival terminal, close to the touristic bus area, you can find the “BUS & FLY” stop area. This shuttle goes directly to Ferrara. (~ 1hour)

You can get off either at the train station or in Via Cavour, just in front of the Castello Estense (more convenient if you are going to one of the hotels in the city centre or directly to the workshop site).

 2) Bologna Airport – Bologna train station – Ferrara train station:

The Marconi express will bring you to the main Bologna train station in 7 minutes

Once in the train station look for trains to Venezia: Ferrara is on this line. We recommend traveling on a Regionale Veloce train (“veloce” means fast): they run about every hour, the duration is about 30 minutes and the ticket costs slightly less than 5 euro. The other Regionale trains take about 50 minutes for the same price. High-speed trains (“Frecce”) cost significantly more but save you only about 10 minutes. In addition, not all high-speed trains stop in Ferrara, so pay attention. You can find timetables here.

Another possibility is to fly into Venice (VCE), then off to the train station (by bus) to take a train to Ferrara (on the line from Venice to Bologna, again make sure your train does stop in Ferrara).

Should you want to book a taxi from either airport, you may contact the LOC to get access to preferential rates.
